Microsoft's March Patches Break Printing

Microsoft pushed out more Windows updates on Patch Tuesday in March.

Along with those patches came users experiencing the dread blue screen of death when printing after the updates were installed. Microsoft isn't a stranger to their updates breaking user's ability to printer, and this month's patch appears to effect users who try to print to Kyocera printers. The updates that are causing this issue are KB5000802 for Windows 10 versions 2004 and 20H2, and KB5000808 for version 1909. If you're affected, you can temporarily remove the update until Microsoft comes up with a fix. To remove the patches, do the following:

- Open an Administratve command prompt.

- To see the list of updates applied to your computer, type "wmic qfe list brief /format:table" in the command prompt window. Look at the display and see if KB5000802 or KB5000808 appears in the list, depending on your version of Windows.

- Once you've identified the update that has been applied to your system, you can remove it by typing "wusa /uninstall /kb:5000802" or "wusa /uninstall /kb:5000808" in the command prompt window. You will be asked to confirm that you want to uninstall the update. Please note that once the update has finished removing, you will need to reboot your system to complete the removal.
